Description

Covenac T Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

Uses of Covenac T Tablet

Treatment of Chronic kidney disease.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) refers to the loss of normal kidney function over a long span of time. CKD progresses gradually over a few years but may become permanent if left untreated. Covenac T Tablet has antioxidant properties which helps in elimination of toxic materials such as urea from the kidneys and improves kidney function. When combined with a low or very low protein diet, it helps slow down the progression of CKD and improves the quality of life. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and take it as advised to get maximum benefit.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Covenac T  Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Covenac T  Tablet works

Covenac T Tablet is a combination of two antioxidants: Taurine and Acetylcysteine. These antioxidants work by protecting the kidneys from damage by harmful chemical (free radicals).

Taurine deficiency in diabetes

Evidence suggests that diabetes can lead to taurine deficiency. Taurine deficiency can lead to retinal, cardiac, neural, immune, and hemostatic dysfunction.Taurine deficiency can occur due to decreased oral intake, poor intestinal absorption, or renal wasting.

In diabetic nephropathy, taurine treatment reduces proteinuria and albuminuria and prevents glomerular hypertrophy, mesangial extracellular matrix expansion and hypertrophy in renal tubular epithelial cells.
