Key Benefits of Betaine in Liver diseases

  • Methylation support: :Betaine TMG acts as a methyl donor, facilitating methylation processes in the liver. Methylation helps in detoxification, antioxidant production, and maintaining healthy genetic expression.
  • Liver detoxification: Betaine TMG supports phase II liver detoxification, promoting the elimination of toxins, heavy metals, and environmental pollutants.
  • Anti-inflammatory effects: Betaine TMG has anti-inflammatory properties, which may help reduce liver inflammation associated with conditions like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
  • Protection against oxidative stress: Betaine TMG has antioxidant properties, shielding liver cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals.
  • Support for liver enzyme function: Betaine TMG may help maintain healthy levels of liver enzymes, such as ALT and AST.

Specific liver-related conditions where Betaine TMG is beneficial.
1. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
2. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)
3. Hepatitis
4. Cirrhosis
5. Liver fibrosis
6. Alcohol-related liver disease

Key Benefits of Betaine in Homocysteinuria
Homocystinuria (HCU)is an inherited disorder of the metabolism of the amino acid methionine due to a deficiency of cystathionine beta synthase or methionine synthase. It is an inherited autosomal recessive trait, which means a child needs to inherit a copy of the defective gene from both parents to be affected. Symptoms of homocystinuria can also be caused by a deficiency of vitamins B6, B12, or folate.

Betafem TMG Provides an Alternate Remethylation Pathway because Betafem TMG acts as a methyl donor, to convert excess homocysteine to methionine in patients with homocystinuria.

98% of patients treated with Betaine showed decreases in either plasma homocysteine or homocystine concentrations regardless of pre-treatment concentration.

In about 75% of patients, clinical improvement, such as improvement in seizures or behavioral or cognitive functioning, was reported by treating physicians.

Pharmacodynamics of Betafem TMG
In patients with low plasma methionine concentrations due to MTHFR deficiency or cbl defect, Betafem TMG has been demonstrated to increase plasma methionine and S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) concentrations.

BETAFEM TMG : TWICE DAILY DOSING
Adults and children ≥ 3 years
Recommended dosage: 6 grams per day in divided doses of 3 grams twice daily
Children <3 years
Recommended starting dosage: 100 mg/kg/day divided in twice daily doses, and then increased weekly by 50 mg/kg increments.
Maximum dosage: Dosages of up to 20 grams/day have been necessary to control homocysteine concentrations in some patients. One in vitro simulation study indicated minimal benefit from exceeding 150 mg/kg/day.

Directions for Use:
Dissolve the contents of the sachet in a glass of water or juice and drink after meals twice a day for minimum 3-6 months.
